The
world is filled with some of the most exotic locations - and most of
them centre around a beach or a mountain as they are simply
breathtaking. As a traveller, choosing between a mountain and a beach is
always difficult because both these terrains offer plenty of
opportunities for both relaxation and adventure.
If you have to pick one of the two, here are some suggestions that can guide you to decide where your next flight should take you to.
Introverts vs extroverts
Research
shows that introverts prefer to go to mountains for holidays as it
gives them time to be by themselves while extroverts need people to talk
and beaches are a better choice for them. In fact, a study by the
University of Virginia asked respondents on where they'd like to go to
socialise, and 75 percent said beach while only 25 percent opted for
mountains. This study goes to show how your personality can determine
your choice.
Hot vs cold
Mountains
tend to be chilly because of their altitude whereas beaches are likely
to be hot and humid. So, if you live in a cold place and want to get
some sun, head to the beach. On the other hand, if you live in
equatorial or tropical regions and want to get a feel of ice and snow,
mountains are your destination.
Adventure vs laid-back
To
some extent, the choice between a mountain and a beach depends on what
you want to do. If you are adventurous, then you are better off
exploring the mountains as your options are more when compared to
beaches. Though you can sail and surf on the sea, it is not for everyone
as most people prefer a beach holiday to unwind, relax and laze around
in the sun.
Solo vs family
If
you are traveling with young kids, then beaches are a better choice
while mountains are perfect if you are traveling alone or with your
partner.
Finally,
if you can't decide where you want to go, just opt for cities that have
both as you can enjoy the best of both landscapes!
