Do you know how many people reach their goals? Many people they don’t know what they want, how to get started or have a plan. According to University of Scranton in USA, only 8% of people reach their New Year’s goals. You can reach your goals by making a commitment, create a good action plan and preparation.

Many people don’t reach their goals maybe because they don’t know exactly what they want, how to get resources, get preparedor have a good plan to get there. If you know what you want in life, you’re ahead of the game today. If you don’t, you can always start now. Let’s talk about a common goal. One important goal is being successful.   Maybe it’s success at work, in your family, money, business or personal life.  If you’re reading this, you’re probably not where you want to be yet but that can change.

If you are serious about finding and reaching your goals, it’s important be 100% committed.Without commitment, it’s hard to get to where you want to be in anything. Ask an athlete, CEO, mom or someone in college or building their career.  Without commitment, you won’t have the motivation to get to where you want to go.

1.  Commit to your goals. Write it down: When you write down your goals, youcan increase your chances of getting there up to 40 percent.  When you write down what you want, why you want to get there and think of some good ideas, you’re on your way.  Think about when you go to new place or take a road trip.  You have an idea of where you want to go, what you want to see, places to visit or eat.  Then, you find the location and put it in your GPS and pack what you need.  You’re on your way.  Your goals are so important so it’s worth writing it down.  Put it in your journal, laptop, phone or on piece of paper.  Write it then review it.

2.  Make an action plan: the road to success.  After you commit, you need to make and write down your action plan.  How do you plan to get there?  Write down at least 5-10 different things you need to do in 1 year or 5 years.  Then, break down the goals for each month.  It could be 3 or more things you need to do for each month.  An example is to do research on what you want. If you want to have your own business, then study business.  If you want to be a better parent, then study parenting.  If you want to finish school or build your career, research career planning. It might take you several attempts to find the right action plan and that’s okay.  Your first action plan might not be the best one.  Keep changing it until you get the results you want.  Do what it takes to reach your goals.

3. Be prepared for setbacks and how to deal with them: Reaching your goals takes commitment, a good action plan and preparation. “It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to have an opportunity and not be prepared.” per Whitney M. Young.  You have to prepare if you want to get to your goals.  You need to be patient, prepare for setbacks and changes in your life, family, economy and more. When you’re prepared and something unexpected happens, you will have an idea of what to do instead of feeling lost.  Write down some issues you had in the past and what problems can happen when you go for your goals.  Write down at least 3 solutions that can help.  You might need to look for more resources or read about what other people did to cope. This way if something unexpected happens, you can handle it instead of giving up on your goals.
